From where I left off, me and my sisters headed out for Brunch later on and after food, we imprompto decided to go back to NUS to visit the canteens, to check out the changes and if possible try out certain favourite stalls if they are opened.
We started walking up the Bizad hill... yar the long road that led to the back of the Biz library, which was still manageable. Then we climbed up the Biz stairways of doom which I still managed without much difficulty (I climb up and down stairs at my workplace) but when I looked behind me, both my sisters were lagging behind. (One even claimed she walks to her workplace from the MRT daily, so should not have a problem...) We walked into the familiar Biz canteen to note that nothing has changed. All the main stalls are intact. BUT we were feeling kinda warm and bought Watermelon juice to drink, while we walked towards the Art canteen.
Man, it was a hot and sunny day. Luckily have the cool watermelon juice to sip as we walked up another slope and more stairs. Finally there, the Art canteen looked different again. This time its 2 storeys. The western food and jap food stalls looked intact. We headed upstairs drawn by the prospect of air-con. There's burger king, jerk thai and Ollio. We plonked ourselves in the nice seats and blew air con to cool down. Sweating by then. We pretended to be thinking of what to order, cos there is a sign on the table 'the tables are reserved for diners from 12pm-2pm' but by then it was alread 2.30pm. Anyway we blended in quite well with the undergrads who were doing assignments on their laptops. Compare this to the time when we had to do our assignments in the non air-con biz canteen... Geez some have it good.
After 10mins, we continued on our way to the Engine canteen. Before that got another drink. Then we walked thru Forum and up more slopes and stairs to reach the canteen, where most stalls were closed. By then again we were feeling hot. Again there is an air conditioned place there, and its MacDonalds. We headed in to blow aircon and ate some meal there. My sisters didnt realize that Apple Dippers came with Caramel sauce and once they did, they pointed out that it wasnt as healthy. Cos the caramel would increase the sugar mah. Well point taken but we were all happily dipping the apple pieces into the caramel sauce and lamented that they dun provide extra, which can then be added to coffee to make caramel coffee.
By then it was near 3.20pm. I had to go for Jap class and left them to cotinue their foray to the YIH, swimming pool canteen, Science canteen and eventually to NUH foodcourt (which serves good tea) I went for Jap and started falling asleep during certain intermissions. Cos the nite before, slept at 2am, woke up at 7am to decide not to go for the checkup yet. Didnt sleep much then woke up plus trudging up and down NUS, made me kinda tired.
After that met up with Candle for dinner. Incidentally cos the paragon was crowded, so no chance of finding places for dinner. I suggested food republic and couldnt find seats too, decided to head to sit inside that Indian food, Chutneys. After Candle arrived, we discovered that whilst seated inside, you cant order the set meals, cos they are ONLY for those seated outside. You got to order A-la-carte and they are more expensive. PLUS the service not good, food took quite a while to come. The curry is nice and the Mango yogourt is good. BUT I wont ever go sit in to eat again. Its kinda crap that first you pay more just cos you sit inside, then the food comes slower.
Later we went to Aussino, this place in Paragon where they are having 40% discount for their quilts, pillows, bolsters, etc etc. We met Sockling, whose there with her finace. They are getting married this year, near the end of the year. Wow! I bought a new pillow, a firm one for $14 (usual price near $25) and lugged it home on the bus. My old pillow's kinda hard and clumpy cos its cotton. Not very comfortable at times. In the end had a rather good nite's sleep, only interupted by waking up for toilet. Otherwise its a good sleep. According to candle, the sales up til April something. So go get a good pillow to help you sleep better.
Today feeling kinda bored. Bits of boredom creeping in... There are a few things to do, first and foremost go to the gym for the once a week workout to build muscles.
Then there is the calling up to enquire for that accoustic guitar course to find out about its timing. Most probably go for the Level 1 cos they have music theory which is something I seriosly lack and need some proper training in. Its just once a week, 45mins, 12 weeks per level. Ie In one year, then finished all 3 levels. Havent gotten the timing of the course. If want to do it on weekdays, need to be at least after 7pm.
Aso tracking some stock prices which I havent been doing. Just requires going to Poems page, finding the counter and typing down the closing price into my Excel spreadsheet. Just pure tracking of the prices to know the current prices and see if its low enuff for my budget. A few minutes of work. Maybe I'll do this b4 I leave for gym.
And the distasteful task of looking at the 3 out of 4 stacks that I dabaoed home. Did one stack while waiting for the movie on Friday nite. Sat was spent out mainly. Left today... not sure if I could bring myself to do it though. The dilemma of an Educator. How much of my weekend and free time is really my own? Where is the cut-off for work, even after work hours? There's always a backlog. It increases whenever you give out homework/assignment. Its like you are saboing yourself. Dun give, you feel they are not learning/practising. Give, you kill yourself with the marking. *Big signz* No promise. See if I am up to it anyway.
